Olympic Torch to visit Loch Ness & Inverness
The London Olympics torch relay begins on 19 May 2012 at Land’s End and ends 70 days later at the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium.
London 2012: Scottish route unveiled for Olympic torch
The Olympic torch will visit five Scottish cities and three islands as it tours the UK ahead of the 2012 Games in London.
The route has been chosen to include iconic Scottish backdrops including Loch Ness.
On the 9th of June the Torch will run from Glasgow up the A82 through Glencoe Fort William then run along Loch Ness vi Fort Augustus Urquhart Castle Lewiston & Drumnadrochit on its way to that day’s destination Inverness.
Evening celebrations marking the flame’s arrival will be held in Glasgow Inverness (June 9th 2012) Aberdeen Dundee and Edinburgh. The torch will also visit Orkney Shetland and the Isle of Lewis.
During the six days it spends in Scotland the flame will travel nearly 900 miles (1448km).
