If you’re looking for stunning views on Loch Ness, beautiful waterfalls, whilst enjoying a woodland walk… Look no further than Allt Na Criche.
A 5 minute drive from The Lovat, this wonderful woodland trail is great for all the family… Especially those with four legs.
This circular will take you deep into winding woodland trails, as well as an open and clear forestry track. One minute you are surrounded by a mixture of birch and pine, winding paths and steep stone steps. Then you’ll find yourself on an open track with stunning views over Fort Augustus and across Loch Ness. Allt Na Criche is also home to a lot of wildlife so keep your eyes open for red squirrel and pine martin.
If you’re feeling up to the challenge… Allt Na Criche is also part of the Great Glen Way. One of the paths will take you up to the high route, and this route is not for the faint hearted. A very strenuous and steep winding climb that will take you past many beautiful waterfalls and wonderful woodland moments… But, you will be rewarded with a wonderful view of Loch Ness…
Parking is available and free. There are no bins in the car park at present so please remember to take your rubbish with you, and leave the walking trails and carpark as you found them.
